Abstract

This research examined the socio-demographic profile, emotional states (depression, anxiety, stress levels), and academic performance of junior high school students at Saint Tonis College Incorporated in Tabuk City, Kalinga. It sought to understand the complex interplay between these factors and develop interventions to support students' academic success. The researcher employed a descriptive-correlational research design. Two hundred thirty-six participated in answering the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scales-Youth version (DASS-Y). The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results revealed that a considerable number of female junior high school students are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress. Despite these challenges, their academic performance remains consistently high, with a weighted average of "very satisfactory." Variations in academic performance were observed across different age groups. Gender showed a moderate association with the general weighted average, while parents' educational attainment had a statistically weak correlation with their children's academic performance. These findings highlight the critical importance of education for personal growth and the betterment of future generations. Investing in education ensures that adolescents have the necessary support and resources to succeed academically and beyond.
