Abstract
This research aims to explore the profile and attitudes of young adults towards vaping, providing a foundation for the development of evidence-based information, education, and communication (IEC) materials. With the rising prevalence of vaping among this demographic, understanding their behaviors and perceptions is crucial for designing effective strategies to promote awareness and mitigate potential health risks associated with vaping. Utilizing a quantitative descriptive method of research, a diverse sample of young adults (18-39 years old) was surveyed using a questionnaire. The results indicate that Males are more common vape users. This may be due to social norms and perceptions about smoking or vaping, which can influence gender-specific patterns. Furthermore, in some cultures, smoking or vaping might be perceived as more socially acceptable or even desirable for males, aligning with stereotypical notions of masculinity and contributing to a higher prevalence among men. Furthermore, the common flavor the preference of vapers is menthol due to its cooling and refreshing sensation. Vapers often appreciate the smooth and soothing feeling in the throat and lungs when using menthol-flavored e-liquids. This can be especially appealing to those who enjoy a sensation similar to menthol cigarettes. The study also revealed a noteworthy correlation between participants' attitudes towards vaping and both their occupation and religious affiliations. The data suggests that individuals within certain occupations exhibit varying attitudes toward vaping, possibly influenced by workplace policies, societal norms, or health considerations. Additionally, religious beliefs seem to play a role in shaping attitudes towards vaping, with participants from different religious backgrounds demonstrating distinct perspectives on this behavior.References
