Abstract

The modern library is not just a repository of books but a dynamic community resource center that provides access to a vast range of information resources and services. The evolving role of libraries necessitates efficient management systems that can streamline operations, enhance user experience, and adapt to technological advancements. The development of a computerized library management system for F.L. Vargas College was guided by the ADDIE model, an instructional design framework developed by Dick and Carey (1978). The ADDIE model’s five phases, analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, were systematically applied to create an efficient and user-friendly system aimed at addressing the challenges of the college's existing manual library processes. In addition, the study aimed to design and develop a system that manages borrowing, returning, cataloging, and inventory processes efficiently and to assess its compliance with ISO 25010 standards in terms of functionality, reliability, performance efficiency, usability, security, compatibility, maintainability, and portability. Utilizing the waterfall model for development facilitated clear project planning and systematic progress through distinct phases, ensuring thorough testing and verification at each stage. Findings revealed that the developed library management system significantly improved operational efficiency and user experience, receiving high ratings in all ISO 25010 categories with a collective "strongly agree" rating across all the components. The system demonstrated exceptional performance in maintainability, indicating readiness for future upgrades and development. Minor compatibility issues were noted, but overall, the system effectively met quality standards and enhanced library services. In conclusion, the transition from a manual to an automated library management system at F.L. Vargas College has modernized record-keeping, reduced human error, and mitigated physical space constraints, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency and reliability of library operations. The study recommends the full implementation of the system, staff training for optimal use, and routine maintenance to address any compatibility issues and ensure continued improvement and security.
