Abstract
This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of implementing nutrition program strategies in select barangays of Solana, Cagayan, and served as a basis for a proposed enhanced Local Government-Based Nutrition Program. The study employed a mixed-methods research design, specifically the Sequential Explanatory Approach. Both qualitative and quantitative data were collected and analyzed. Total enumeration of the respondents was done for the collection of quantitative data on the prevalence of malnutrition among children 0-5 years, and they were categorized as wasted, stunted, and obese. The qualitative data verified the current nutrition programs implemented and determined whether they were effective or not, based on assessments by the Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Barangay Midwives, and the mothers of malnourished children. The study revealed that most of the children are malnourished, and most are stunted, further revealing that malnutrition has been a problem in the municipality for quite some time, hence the need to enhance the nutrition program in the Municipality of Solana, Cagayan, and with the support of other stakeholders, to combat this menace.References
