Abstract
This study examines the college readiness of non-K to 12 graduates enrolled in a higher education institution in the northern Philippines. In this context, “non-K to 12” refers to graduates of the Revised Basic Education Curriculum (RBEC) and Alternative Learning System (ALS). Using secondary data obtained from the CHED-funded Discovery Applied Research and Extension for Trans/Interdisciplinary Opportunities (DARE TO) Research Project on College Readiness of Filipino K to 12 Graduates, this descriptive research explored both the profile of the respondents and their college readiness, as revealed in their College Readiness Test scores. The findings show that non-K to 12 graduates, regardless of their profiles, are generally unready for college. With no further RBEC graduates expected to enroll in college, the results underscore the need to enhance the ALS curriculum to foster a college-going culture, preparing ALS graduates who are college-bound for higher education.References
