Abstract
This quasi-experimental research measures the effectiveness of the SIPAG Learning Packet in improving the reading comprehension of Grade 11 students of Gabu National High School. The two groups were compared: the Control Group, instructed using the conventional lecture method, and the Experimental Group, which utilized the SIPAG Learning Packet with podcasts, activity sheets, and group activities. The findings of the LETRA Tool, developed by the Department of Education Region I, indicated that the Experimental Group showed greater gains in reading comprehension, particularly in story, local material, and academic text comprehension. The SIPAG Learning Packet generated a greater gain score (7.09) compared to the conventional lecture technique (2.43), validating its higher efficacy. Statistical computation verified a considerable improvement in the Experimental Group, whereas the Control Group registered a slight improvement. Student responses emphasized the packet’s utility in building vocabulary, reading comprehension, and critical thinking. The interactive model promoted learner engagement and met the individual reading requirements of each student. With these results, the study recommends integration of the SIPAG Learning Packet into the curriculum, extension to other schools, teacher professional development, and further investigation into its long-term effect. Overall, the study identifies the promise of new learning materials to improve students' literacy and academic performance.References
