Abstract

This study developed and evaluated a Student Information Management System (SIMS) for the Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines and the International School of Asia and the Pacific (MCNP-ISAP) to improve the management of student records and academic transactions. The system was designed to centralize student information and automate key processes, including enrollment, grade management, schedule viewing, profile updating, and document requests. The study employed a developmental-descriptive research design utilizing the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) through the Waterfall Model, which included requirements analysis, system design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. Data were gathered through interviews and surveys involving students, teachers, administrators, and information technology personnel who served as evaluators of the developed system. The system was developed using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, and phpMyAdmin. Evaluation was conducted using the ISO/IEC 25010 Software Quality Model covering functionality suitability, performance efficiency, compatibility, usability, reliability, security, maintainability, and portability. Results revealed that the system achieved an overall weighted mean of 4.62, interpreted as Strongly Agree, indicating a high level of compliance with ISO 25010 quality standards. Portability obtained the highest rating (WM = 4.70), followed by functionality suitability and maintainability (WM = 4.65), demonstrating the system’s flexibility, effectiveness, and ease of maintenance. The findings indicate that the developed SIMS is a reliable, secure, and user-friendly platform that enhances administrative efficiency and supports digital transformation in educational institutions. Continuous system enhancement, user training, and integration of advanced technologies are recommended to further improve system performance and sustainability.
